WHEN ONLY THE BEST WILL DO
API 20E & 20F Bolting

NEWS STATEMENT: API Specification 20E Third Edition
In anticipation of API 20E Third Edition’s publication, U.S. Bolt has transitioned processes and procedures to incorporate those requirements new and unique to the Third Edition. Our proprietary manufacturing control processes had always been designed to yield Bolting of the highest integrity, and many of our procedures were already in compliance with these new, more rigid, requirements. We’re pleased to confirm that we are now offering 20E Bolting manufactured and certified to be in full compliance with the Third Edition.
Ensuring Superior Quality for Critical Applications
API 20E and API 20F bolting ensures that the supplied product meets, or exceeds the highest levels of quality for safety related applications. Through rigidly controlled processes for raw material production and procurement, heat treatment requirements, mechanical testing, metallurgical evaluation and physical dimension inspection and verification, assures proper performance in critical service applications, such as in deep water Oil & Gas Drilling & Production Equipment.
OUR QUALITY
U.S. Bolt is proud to hold the very first API 20E and API 20F licenses.

API Specification 20E
This standard specifies the requirements for the qualification, production and documentation of alloy and carbon steel bolting used in the petroleum and natural gas industries.
API Spec 20E Third Edition, Published March 7, 2024
Effective Date: March 7, 2025
API Specification 20F
The companion specification covering corrosion resistant Bolting.
API 20E / 20F Services Levels
API standard establishes three Bolting Specification Levels (BSL-1, BSL-2 and BSL-3). These BSL’s define ascending levels of technical, quality and qualification requirements. Increasing levels of severity reflect increased consequence of Bolting failure.
-
BSL-1 (Not included in API 20F)
-
BSL-2
-
BSL-3 The highest level of criticality, BSL-3, is expected to be reserved for those applications in which Bolting failure is not an acceptable option.
APPLICATIONS
API 20E and 20F compliant bolting is now mandatory for many products being manufactured to API Specifications. These products include:
Valves
Surface Trees
Drilling Risers
Subsea Well Heads and Trees
Subsea Pipelines
Drill Through Equipment
Production Risers, Jumpers and Gas Export Equipment
Blow Out Preventers
High Pressure/High Temperature (HP/HT) Equipment
Choke & Kill Manifolds
